I Wake Up Tired

Feeling well-rested in the morning can help you feel ready to take on the day. When you wake up feeling worn out even after a full night’s rest, it can be incredibly frustrating and may also be a sign of a serious sleep disorder known as sleep apnea. This disorder happens when your airways become blocked at night, and you have periodic pauses in breathing (apneas). Sleep apnea disrupts your sleep cycle, makes you tired during the day, and puts you at risk for health issues. If sleep apnea is the cause of your daytime tiredness, we may be able to treat the disorder with oral appliance therapy.
Poor Sleep Caused by Sleep Apnea
Your tongue or soft tissues can block your airways, causing apneas (pauses in breathing). This phenomenon can occur when your throat relaxes in the evening. You may not notice this, but you are waking up throughout the night when you have pauses in breathing. Your partner may notice nighttime sleep pauses and wake up because of it. When you wake up the next morning, you may still feel worn out even if you have been in bed for a full eight hours.
Daytime Fatigue Can Be Harmful
If you are not getting enough rest at night due to waking up throughout the night, you may have noticed some changes to your physical and mental well-being. It may be more difficult to complete important tasks because you have difficulty concentrating. You may feel more irritable or experience mood changes due to poor sleep. Your exhaustion can also make it a dangerous drive because you risk falling asleep behind the wheel.
Fatigue is just one harmful concern related to your sleep disorder. In addition to poor rest, you may also be at an increased risk of health issues like high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, weight gain, and more.
